Honoring Our Area Veterans

Saunemin Grade School's Veterans Day program was held on Tuesday, November 10 at 1:30 p.m. in the new gymnasium. Mrs. Rapp led the junior high band in "The National Anthem" and "God Bless the USA" while the choir sang "In Flanders Fields" and "Song for the Unsung Hero." Guest Soloist was Mrs. Navana Ahrends and piano accompanist was Mrs. Diana Eggenberger. The school was also honored by the presence of many veterans, including five Veterans from the Pontiac War Museum. Special Veteran Guests included Jack Murphy - 25th Infantry Division, Korea: Bill Hall - 5th Marine Division in the Pacific: John Amm - 35th Infantry Division, Europe WWII; Duane Currington - 9th Infantry Division, Viet Nam; Ralph Messer - Army Grenada.
After a question and answer session with the Veterans, the audience sang along for "The Armed Forces Medley" and "God Bless America." The Sixth grade class presented all Veterans that were present with homemade Thank You's. To finish the Program, 'Taps' was played by Colin D.
