Not having time to miss home......Mr. Stoecklin (pronounced 'stack-lyn') was hired on August 11, 1993, just 2 weeks before school started, and just 4 days prior to his first baseball game!!

Mr. Stoecklin grew up in Greenville, IL, located about 45 miles East of St. Louis....(sorry Cub fans)...attending local schools.  Following a stint at SIU-Edwardsville and work on the family farm, 'Coach' went to work in radio, working for WSMI & WGEL doing news, sports, and production.  He returned to Greenville (IL) College to finish his degree in Elementary Education in 1990 while working as the administrative assistant to GC Head Football Coach Max Bowman.

Coach currently serves as the primary 5th Grade teacher in the Saunemin district, taking care of curriculum needs in Reading, Spelling, Phonics, English & Grammar, Social Studies, Science & Keyboarding.  At one time, he shared duties in Jr. High Social Studies, teaching a half-year of World Geography and a full year of U.S. History.

Stoecklin also just finished his 15th year at the helm of the Saunemin, IL, Grade School athletic department.  Following his hiring at Saunemin, he led the Eagles to a 7A State Runner-up in 1995 as the Eagles posted a 24-3 record.  In 1996, Saunemin returned to the IESA State Finals with an Elite 8 finish and 21-3 record.  Those teams were led by Loyola-Chicago's Jason Telford.

With the completion of this 06-07 season, Saunemin completeD one of the most successful 3-year run at the 8
th grade level in school history with a 45-22 record in that time frame, and 3 straight appearances in the IESA 8A Regional Championship.  This past season's squad recorded a 15-10 record and that group became the 3rd winningest group in school's history.  The 05-06 Eagles recorded a 16-8 record, won a conference championship, and ended their career as the 2nd winningest group in school history.

Coach is a member of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, the National Association of Basketball Coaches, and the Class of 2008 Greenville College Athletic Hall of Fame.
